My bumper doesn't launch very far
What happen is the bumper fires but does not go very far or is a dud. Extra powder collected in the barrel will
cause flaring and a reduction of power, or a dud. We recommend using wadded or uncrimped shells as they have
better burn characteristics. Crimped shells can be used, but wadded ones should be used in an interval of 1 in every 10.
The following are ways to clean the barrel of excess residue:
1. Put a shell in the breach without a bumper on, and discharge it. This will blow out any extra gunpowder.
2. Use a 22 calibre cleaning brush, and brush the inside – then fire off a shell without the bumper on.
3. The third possible reason for a misfire is due to foreign substances being in the bumper, such as water, or mud.
A good idea is to design a drying rack so that the bumpers hang upside down and gravity allows the water to drip out the
bottom during training sessions. This assures that your bumper is as dry as possible when reloading.
Bumpers can also be cleaned with a 12 gauge cleaning brush.
